From Dr. D’Agostino at USF: ” Oncologists use FDG-PET for tumor imaging, but they don’t use this information to kill the tumor. FDG-PET is possible because cancer cells have high glucose metabolism and elevated rates of glycolysis. Mitochondrial dysfunction forces cancer cells to rely on glucose for survival (Warburg effect). Impaired mitochondrial function makes cancer cells selectively vulnerable to metabolic therapies that lower blood glucose and elevate blood ketones, a fuel that cancer cells can’t use. In fact, evidence exists that ketones are toxic to cancer cells. ”

Warburg Rules! A Review of Thomas Seyfried’s Cancer As a Metabolic Disease- From the Townsend Letter December 2012

“He cites research showing that if you transplant a nucleus containing mutations from a cancer cell into a normal cell (from which the nucleus has been removed), this does not produce cancer cells (McKinnell 1969; Mintz 1975; Howell 1978; Harris 1988; Shay 1988; Li 2003; Hochedlinger 2004). But if you transplant a normal nucleus into a cancerous cell, the cell can now form tumors – again, presuming that the original nuclear material has been removed (Israel 1987; Israel 1988). These results show that nuclear gene mutations alone cannot produce tumors and that normal mitochondria can suppress tumor formation.” nuclearcytoplasmic transfer experimentshttp://www.townsendletter.com/Dec2012/warcancer1212.html
